What is the difference between Door Supervisor Training and Security Guard Training?

A Door Supervisor Licence enables individuals to work as both Door Supervisors and Security Guards, whereas a Security Guard Licence only permits them to work in a Manned Guarding role. It’s worth noting that many employers tend to favour candidates with a Door Supervisor Licence over those with a Security Guard Licence.

Door Supervisor Training and Security Guard Training are essential courses within the private security industry. Still, they differ regarding the roles they prepare individuals for and the specific skills and knowledge emphasised. Door Supervisor Training equips individuals to work as door supervisors in licensed premises such as bars, nightclubs, and restaurants. It emphasises skills related to crowd management, conflict resolution, physical intervention, and upholding security in these specific environments. The training covers topics such as legal responsibilities, licensing laws, customer service, and emergency procedures specific to the role of a door supervisor.

On the other hand, Security Guard Training prepares individuals to work as security guards in various settings, including offices, retail stores, construction sites, and public spaces. The training covers various security-related topics applicable to various security roles and environments. It emphasises skills such as access control, patrol techniques, report writing, emergency response, and basic first aid. Security Guard Training focuses on general security principles, observation skills, incident prevention, and response protocols that are applicable across different sectors within the private security industry.
